our beliefs

About GOD

We believe in the one true God, the Creator of all things, who has revealed Himself in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Gen1:1, Deut. 6:4, John 15:26)

We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, the Son of the living God, and was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.  He shed His blood and died on the cross for our sins, obtained eternal redemption for us, was buried, and was raised bodily on the third day and appeared to the disciples.  We believe in divine healing and that Jesus is the Healer. (Isaiah 53:5, Matthew 8:16-17, James 5:14-15, Matthew 14: 35-36, I Peter 2:24, Luke 24:1-3, Acts 1:1-3, 2:22-36, I Corinthians 15:1-8, Hebrews 9:12-14, Matthew 1:18, Phil. 2: 5-11, John 1:1, 14, 18.)

The Holy Spirit is a full and equal part of the Trinity.  Believers are set apart for the purpose of holy living by the power of the Holy Spirit. We rely on the Holy Spirit to make us effective in our ministry and witness for Christ.  Each member of the Body of Christ has been gifted by the Holy Spirit to guide and serve the church (Acts 1:8, Ephesians 5:18, Luke 24:49, I Corinthians 14:26, I Peter 4:10)

About the BIBLE

The Bible, Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God and it is our rule of faith for daily living. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter1:20-21, 2 Timothy 1:13, psalm119:105, 160; Proverbs 30:5, Hebrews 1:1-2)

Salvation is only possible through Jesus Christ by grace and through faith for forgiveness of sin by repentance of the believer.  We believe that Christ has only one church, and salvation makes you a member. We encourage unity and fellowship among all believers regardless of denominational affiliation. (Ephesians 2:8, Ephesians 4:4-6, Acts 4:12)

About the CHURCH

We believe in the local church and that it exists to glorify God. He uses the church as an instrument to help believers grow in their faith, and to establish the kingdom of God through prayer, fellowship and the ministry of the Word and to carry out the Great Commission. We keep the ordinances of the early church: Baptism, and Communion. Everyone who has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior is baptized by immersion, as an outward sign of an inward work, and Communion is an affirmation of oneness in Christ. (Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:42-47, Hebrews 10:25, Acts 8:36-39, I Corinthians 11: 23-26)

God sent Jesus to save us from our sins.  He lived on this earth, died a human death, and then rose again three days later.  After a short time longer on earth Jesus Christ ascended into heaven, and is sitting at the right hand of the Father. One day He will physically return, and take everyone who has a relationship with Him to heaven.  God created you to live forever and your decision about Jesus Christ will determine if you will spend eternity separated from Him, or living with Him in heaven forever. (John 3:16, Romans 6:23, I Thessalonians 4:13-18, John 14:2-3, Matthew 24:29-31)

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male and female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Genesis 1:26-27) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Genesis 2:18-25) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.

We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19-21; Romans 10:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of HCCC.

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Psalm 139)

The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of HCCC’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Senior Pastor and Elder’s Board is HCCC’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
